Keep moving forward

I try my best to keep positive when dealing with prospects. A good number of you know that The McKane Organization is dedicated to helping certain companies grow. When I say certain, I mean I do a pretty rough job of prescreening these people. Most of the time they would be wasting their money since they have not done the steps necessary to reach whatever goal they have set forth.

In any business, you might have an issue with someone not paying you. Maybe its a new prospect who just keeps taking forever and never commits. Other times it might be a client who knows that he/she is wasting time and killing the project.

In all of those scenarios I say move forward. I know I quoted him once before but Ron LeGrand once said:”Quit crying over spilt milk and milk another cow!” Words to live by. The fact is, there are more opportunities out there than you can count. Why would you waste your human resources on one little problem. If it gets to be real bad and they are already a client, FIRE THEM. I had to do that with one client in the past and I even warned them. Their response: “You’re going to fire… US!?!!?” I looked at them and said: “I just might.” Things got worse and in fact I did fire them. I took Ron’s advice and just milked another cow.

If someone continually wastes your time, cut them off. Most people that know Jeremy McKane know that I specifically mark Time Wasters. I remember someone asking me what the “TW” meant when my phone was ringing. I looked at the name and it said the name followed by “TW”.  I looked back at the guy and said oh yeah he’s a time waster.

The idea behind what I do sounds a bit cruel. I found a certain formula of personality out there that wants as much as they can get for free. They will suck you dry and never do any business with you, Most of the time they use you and go to another client. The other way someone becomes a time waster is when I initially bring them into a smaller deal. I find out that they are screwing me and then they are cut off for life.

The mathematical statistics are in your favor, there are plenty of people out there to do business with. However if it’s you messing up then that is a whole other article, one we will have to talk about later. If you find someone who is wasting your time or things are not going the way you need them to, cut them off and KEEP MOVING FORWARD!
